I was proud to help with and eventually operate an SP125. These are really just slightly bigger slightly improved versions of that beast. Nasty but productive. Ours, at 12 foot head, was used extensively on ours and neighbors farms as it was the big dog. Humorous now. Jim
 
Huh? Slightly improved? A 125SP was 3-1/2 generations away from the 91-181 series, which are all square-back. Other than a handful of bolts, nothing interchangeable.
 
After stationary threshing ca. 1950, My first was an IH 52, only a five foot cut. Then a JD 30 ( I believe) tractor drawn unit. Then went big with a SP John Deere 45, 10-foot cutting head and 2-row corn head. Then a JD 4400, 13-foot cutting head and 4-row corn head! Finally retired with a JD 6620, 16 foot cutting head and 6-row corn head. I guess that was progress!
 
Agree with the analysis. Internal crop flow, augers, elevators, operator platform, feed box gathering chain, are all very similar. They are better, but not a miracle. Jim
 
I started with an 80 McCormick then 410 Massey then 750 Massey then 1660 CaseIH. Finally finished with a 2144 CaseIH. I was satisfied with each for their time. My favorite was the 750.
 
I noticed the video mentioned how these two were balanced fore and aft. Boy do I remember going down a bit of hill with an older version and needing brakes for steering cuz the backend was of no help. :) kelly
 
Anything connected to YouTube or any other videos I cannot get. Now plain pictures I do get so I like pictures instead of videos.
