Farmall A bids almost at $10,000 ....

"The engine reportedly retains the original distributor cap and magneto, which was recently rebuilt. " Still trying to figure out what that means.

You'll sprain your brain trying. It's pure BS written by a professional writer who knows nothing about what they are writing.

And it is just a nice "repaint everything" restoration.

They even painted the shift knob. Surprised they did not paint the steering wheel red too.

Just for comparison: A local man in my antique car club is long retired and restores Farmalls as a hobby. His shop is as clean and as big as the showroom pictured in the Hemmings ad. He goes through everything, is very meticulous, and prices the tractors for what he has in them. A Farmall A he recently did was posted on FB marketplace for $2000. It sold quickly. Looked every bit as good if not better than the one from Hemmings.

Ok. What am I missing here?? Read the description within the link thinking I'd catch something there. I did not.

Wondering if some descendants of the long time original family owners got into a bidding war over this thing once it was restored and put back up for sale. About the only thing I can think of. And if it was a bidding war from that family, then it's sell price means nothing to the rest of the market out there.

According to the S/N list on this site, it is truly a 1945. If that is true, then the hood decal is wrong. It should be the McCormick-Deering decal. The Deering name was removed in 1947. Also, I would question the paint on the generator and voltage regulator - black looks so much better, even if red is correct and I don't know for sure which color is correct. The muffler looks too big for this tractor - it is more the size for an M. Certainly not worth near the current bid.

that muffler just jumps out at me saying get me off of here. plus those 2 stupid hose clamps on the carb inlet, ihc never did use those there. its just that anything that is shiny and nice looking brings big money and the buyers have no clue. thats why i dont have or buy painted tractors. i am more interested how everything functions than looking at shiny paint.
