Case oil filter

I'm changing the oil filter on a Case 850 crawler with a Case engine and the old filter has a cork gasket on the bottom, and the new filter CNH looked up for it has a groove but no gasket and they asked a mechanic and said they don't use one so I'm kinda confused about that. Also if I put a straight edge across the new one it's not raised at all

It looks like it either had the wrong filter in it or they gave you the wrong filter. I'd do some research if it were me.

The link is to Case industrial parts lookup.

IF that is the right filter and you want the sealing gasket on the ends. Take that one back, and get a Baldwin I just looked at it. Filter number is a PT154 has the cork gasket/seal on the top end can't see the bottom so would guess it would be the same.

They looked at another one and none of them have the gasket and the mechanic said they don't use them. When I got home I realized it's under springs pressure so I just put it on and should be fine.
