Removing Auction Marks?

Got a set of wheel weights at a local auction and wanted to paint them to match the rims (IH red). I cannot seem to get the lot # and buyer #s off the weights. Wire brushing just seems to make them shine more. Anyone know how to get those off? I don't know if the primer and paint will cover them up.

Thanks,
Tim

First try finger nail polish remover, then Lacquer thinner, then paint remover. Then a sanding disc. Jim

Woman's HAIR SPRAY and whip. Many ah SHIPPING #'s have been removed , always carried three cans of the stuff . As a lot of the times the treasures i bought never made it back to the house , alot of times i would just haul from one sale to the next one and sell it . It does not look good when ya move t from one sale lot to another with it having several tag numbers on it let lone the black horse code on it . So you would make sure all tags and paint stick was removed and only the new tag on it .

As said. My first go to would be a blending disc on a grinder. Might take 29 seconds. You dont want any oil product on something u plan on painting. The oil soaks into the metal. The paint will eventually peel.

Like said don't use hydrocarbons on them if you want the paint to stick it will not stay good where oil and such has been on the metal.
