Its an A6 GM stlye compressor. The
problem is the clutch coil connection is
in was off the tighting bracket. Can i
pull clutch and reposition so connection
is out of way like on old compressor?

Yes, if you have the proper tools. There is a puller for the clutch plate as well as an install tool. The pulley can be removed with a gear puller if you have the spacer that fits over the compressor snout to push against. Once the pulley is off the coil can be rotated after removing a snap ring. There is a driver for installing the pulley. You can jury rig your way around most of it except the clutch plate installer. If you don't have that you can mess up the compressor by doing that part wrong.

At one time replacing all those parts was commonly done in the field. I still have all that stuff in a box somewhere. I dig them out for a project every once in a while. Not very common any more.

You will need the correct tools are you will damage the compressor and clutch. Your local auto parts store may have the tools needed in their loaner tool program.

Remember to set the air gap on the compressor clutch hub.

I would not install the old traditioned A6 compressor on a application that uses 134A. On a side note I have brought 100's of AC compressors for $49 but those days are gone. : )

It's been a while since a did one of those, but besides the proper tools the coil has a decent on it. If all fits when you reposition it, you will need a new detent for the coil. I don't quite recall if turning it will hit anything though, probably not,

While the coil position CAN be changed, a ''workaround'' would be to make an extension wiring harness to the reach the (incorrect) terminal location.

It might be necessary to remove (grind) a bit of metal off of the bracket in that area, to allow room for the connector but that would still be simpler than relocating the coil, IMHO.

I have done exactly that on a DEERE 4430 or 4630 for the same reason to allow the use of a compressor with an incorrectly ''clocked'' clutch coil.
