I just bought a DC Case and the pully does not stop when I push the clutch lever forward and the lever don't snap in and hold with disengaged. Any ideas?

I bought the tractor not running ,so getting it going again and have it running, but not able to clutch to put in gear

Thank you

Start it in gear , then hit each brake to see if it will break loose with the clutch disengaged. It is also an oil bath clutch.

Your DC has a wet clutch, I.e. it runs in oil. So it is very unlikely that the clutch plate is stuck to the flywheel. Most likely, the clutch linkage is out of adjustment. I do not have time to walk you through the adjustment procedure right now. Post this over on the Case board and someone there will help you with the procedure.

I would doubt the stuck clutch with the oil clutch unless it had been setting for a lot of years. For the not stopping when lever is pushed I would suspect the cltch brake is shot on it. Sounds like a whole adjustment needed for both the clutch and clutch brake on it.

Those clutches will stick even tho they are oil bath. My DC clutch sticks if it sits for more than a day, not bad but enough so I have to start it in gear with the clutch released. Jack one rear wheel up and put it in 4th gear with the clutch released and work the wheel back and forth to try to break it loose. But I have seen them stuck so tight they need to be taken apart too.

Is that a foot clutch or hand clutch, Jon? I have both a C and a SC, both with hand clutches. Either can and have sat for a couple of years at a time inside and I have never had a stuck clutch. As the OP talked about his failing to engage with a snap, I assume he has a hand clutch as well. The only way I can think that a hand clutch could stick while sitting is if it was left with the clutch engaged. The only reason I can think to do that would be to prevent it from rolling.
