Here are some pics from this fall chopping.First is 1968 4020 diesel with M&W turbo on a 34 1 row chopper
and one of my new 122 wagons. Second is my 1968 with a 25 2row chopper and 122 Chuck Wagon.

It should have but with the dry weather and planting fall barley I was to pushed for time. I might get it out yet this fall and put the direct cut head on it for some oats. Tom

OK, i never put silage in the bag,but put wet shell corn in it one time,it takes power to make it tight, is what i found out! Makes beautiful feed!

Going by the smoke, looks like the turbo would work better on the 2 row chopper. How many acres does it take to fill a bag?

The nonturbo tractor has the fuel really turned up and I feel it has more power than the turbo tractor. I chopped about 8 acres to get 180 tons of feed. Tom

Looks good. We used to bag silage with an 8 x150 bag using a 574 to run the bagger. You would hear every time the fingers went around with it. Governor would open a bit. Filled 3 corn 3 hay and 1 ground ear corn each year back then. With 3 wagons 2 hauling and no problems you could fill one a day then close it the next day after chores.

I run the coarse sprocket on the 2 row and the 1 row is set on medium cut. I like the low 60's for moisture but the last of this will be dryer. It goes to beef cows so not real picky. Tom

I leave about 8 inches. I grew up farming limestone rock ledges and that height keep you from hitting any sticking out of the ground. The bottom has little feed value. Neighbor with dairy cuts his as high as the chopper will raise. Tom
