Off topic..Esophageal cancer update

Hello everyone. I just thought I would give everyone an update on my esophageal cancer journey. Today I completed the last of my 25 radiation treatments at Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. I completed my 5 chemo treatment last Wednesday afternoon as well. So today I was surrounded by many awesome family members and friends there to help me celebrate the ringing of the bell. This is such an amazing accomplishment for me! I has been a long 5 weeks being away from home for treatment, but I know the good Lord above sent me to the correct medical facility to get the best treatment I could receive. I received 2 pins for completing these treatments also. They are colored stones that signify the completion of chemo and radiation treatments. This is a huge step forward for me before I have to go in for surgery in the next 2 months to remove the cancerous area in my esophagus. The Mayo health care people are absolutely first class medical care employees in my opinion. I have nothing but great things to say about the great quality of care I received in this timeframe. I have read many of your comments as I post on here as well as the CaringBridge site that was created for me. Thank you all for the tremendous outpouring of support, thoughts and prayers! They are truly welcome and appreciated and working. Take care. May the good Lord above bless your day.

You make it sound easier than I'm sure it was. May your next stage be successful and you make a full recovery.

Its so good to hear of positive results. Im praying that things continue to get better and that you can get on with your life.

Kow Farmer Kurt,

I hope your surgery (and healing) in the next months will go well.

Praying you kick cancer to the curb... and never have a recurrence!

You can beat this Kow Farmer... WE THINK YA CAN!!!

Yes, Mayo is awsome. You meet the nicest staff there. My wife has been there 4 times in the last 3 years for 3 lung cancer surgeries. She still has 3 small spots but is receiving chemo in Rapid City and we hope the results will be good.

Kurt, sounds like you're as happy with your medical crew as I am with mine. I have to add that the doctors I deal with send all my information to Mayo for review and a big Okee-Dokey from the Mayo experts before finalizing any treatments that I get.

One thing confused me though. I thought ringing the bell should be a sign of having no more cancer. I had to go through radiation 3 times, and three times they asked if I wanted to ring the bell. Just didn't feel right, so I declined.

Many thoughts and prayers for you and for Denny K's wife!!

Hi KCM. I think about you and your situation a lot. I hope you are getting the best of care and doing well too.
If I may ask, what is your cancer diagnosis again? Take care. Gods blessings sir.
