CaseIH 881 chopper clutch

Does anybody know how to get that little gizmo with the brushes in it off of the electric reverser clutch on a 781 or 881? I have the shaft and sprockets right off and on the floor and still can't figure it out. I took the two screws out of the cover and have that off. I can see the brushes. I can hook a jumper right to the two screws on the clutch and it engages, but no power through that thing with the brushes.

I checked the CNHI parts site, looked at the schematic and it doesn't show any such detail. It doesn't show any screws, snap ring, nothing. Doesn't even show the bolts that hold the clutch together.

Typically, they have a threaded ''stem'' that screws into the end of the shaft, whether standard or L H. thread is the question!

How do you get a hold of it? The part that the brushes run against are right out there at the end of the shaft. There's one pair right there at the top that I assume are positive, another set offset from them right below them that are probably negative. It rotates all the time, or should I say it sits still all the time while the shaft rotates inside of it.

If it is like the ones on combine they have a hex spot behind the plastic section for the brushes that you put a wrench on to unscrew it. Then again the right or left hand thread issue.

I messed with it for a few minutes this morning in better light. The wire to the negative brushes was off down inside of it. I got a small screwdriver down in there and pushed it back on the spade. It works now, so it won't have to come off.
