took about 30 minutes to change n get er filled with coolant.
burns me that we replace questionable parts to avoid setting broke down n
that part breaks anyhow.

While I was driving part time for a small excavation company one of the owners called on a day when I was off, to see if I could go on an emergency road service for them. One of their Macks was on the interstate and had gotten a big hole in a big coolant hose and had dumped a lot very quickly. I grabbed a couple gallons Of antifreeze and a couple gallons of water and headed out. It was less than 10 miles to the truck and another three to the Mack dealer. The hose was silicone and came off easily. I got the driver going within an hour and a half. This was a lot better than another day when I hauled just one load and worked the rest of the day on the cooling system of that same five year old tuck. My buddies who own the company were pretty happy.

trucked for years tried to keep out of shops. replace hoses and belts in timly fashion. however our new parts seem shoddy quality.
i always inspected suff at home most never looked at ,service calls are outragous too.they must make money but some take advantage of us too

I never had much trouble with hoses and belts. Had the oil cooler go out once in the Carolina's. Made it home and changed then on to SD with it. Radiator was pretty full of oil by then and I had to put some oil in the engine. Changed cooler flushed out cooling system with dawn dish soap a couple times and rinsed between the 2 good to go. Silicone hose is the only way to go for hose they just last forever. I've got some on a 91 Pete and a 2000 Pete that are the original hoses on the 2000 with a million 2 hundred thousand on them. still look good. I put silicone hose on every thing I need to change hoses on if I can get them. I had a mack and it was literally a dog. Such junk should be just there the junkyard. Had a Volvo was about the same way.

As I posted above silicone hoses may not last but at least they come off a lot easier than rubber. Five years and 125,000 miles.
