'39 Farmall H - Semi Rare One

cvphoto162590.jpg

This is actually an effort to post a pic. Sorry. Ask me why my H is semi-rare?

Long story, but my H is semi-rare for a couple of reasons:
1) It is one of the very few which can be almost certainly dated to the actual day it came off the assembly line, and
2) It was made on the last day of the first full month of production, and
3) It was made on the last day of peace before the beginning of World War 2.
This one was made on the last work day prior to Hitler invading Poland on September 1, 1939.

I have 1. made in oct of 1939 by casting codes. All casting codes match. For some reason, all the gears in transmission have the serial number hand engraved. It even has a homemade (but well made) light bar. I figure it came without lights.

(quoted from post at 11:46:05 09/06/23) Almost certainly? What information is lacking to make it definitive?

I'm betting the only thing would be an error in record keeping.

Also, my guess is the serial is 1345, per this page:

Build date is most likely August 31, 1939.

1 and 2, nothing rare about that, I can do (1) for my Ms.
3. Unique, but not rare.

Both of my Ms have 12-7-K castings and a couple of 12-6-K, and are sequential numbers.

Not rare at all. I can tell you the date my John Deere's were built, when they were shipped and where they were shipped, and special equipment it was shipped with.
.

To be honest I really dont see it being anything special after reading the historical dates.

Hmmmm, some of the replies are appreciative and some are kinda rough, almost mean. I was just trying to post a picture and was proud of my accomplishment (even tho I had some help). And, in my own defense, I didn't say: rare. I said: semi-rare and to me that meant a bit out of the ordinary. In regard to the lower part of the grill, to my knowledge the '39s and early H's were NOT different. This one has never had that part of the grill removed to attach a cultivator. And, yes the platforms were indented to accommodate the seat. Some people call it a hog trough. I can tell you from experience after going over a bump, when that seat goes down again and bottoms out it can be felt all the way up the spine! kelly

aint some o you all nit pickin him? nice looking early H .the naysayers all prolly drooling wanting
