Something for the small tractor folks. I see Panzers at the tractor shows and they look similar to this. Might be one. Then again, maybe not. I like the ag tires on the rear, little guy trying to act all grown-up. I remember back in my apartment days stopping by a yard sale and they'd put out a tractor in very original and excellent condition. Just wanted to get rid of it. Was maybe a Simplicity or Wheel Horse, something like that. Hope it found a good home. Apartment was too small but it probably would have fit through the door.

Anyway, something to look at on a Sunday morning.

Might be helpful to have a photo.

A Panzer used a cut down Plymouth rear end and the engine sat so the belt pulley was at the rear and the flywheel
was in front. The one in the picture has the engine mounted sideways.

I remember the rear ends looked very robust. Didn't know they were originally an automotive axle.

The frame on this one looks very spindly between the back of the engine to the rear. From what I can tell, just two thin frame rails. Don't know if it's been reworked or modified somehow..

You know your small tractors. Is that the gas tank that sits just to the right of the flywheel?

You had me intrigued on this post. I found an interesting story about them titled Pennsylvania Panzer on google. I have
seen a few at some shows that I have attended.

This is the last vintage riding mower I had. Recently traded it off for some vintage French mopeds and some cash. Turns out I did pretty well on that deal. Unusual for me. I see one on eBay for around $800, paid 50 bucks for mine years ago. Kept it long enough I knew I wasn't going to do anything with it so it had to go.

I wonder about people cutting grass with these little machines back in the day. Maybe two inches or so it would do ok. I can't imagine getting much work done, even if you made life easy for it.

The one I posted in the storage shed is offered for $400. Seems to be the way it goes: You either find them at giveaway prices or someone is planning their retirement around the sale. Nothing in between. Collectors of these little tractors are reluctant to part with much cash for them. I'm no exception.

Here's the pic.

Actually dad started a lawn & garden dealership in 1973 and Speedex was one of the lines we sold until the company went out of business. I still tinker on lawn equipment now and then.

I tinker more than now and then. Seems something is needing repaired on my 30 year old mowers.

(quoted from post at 18:55:33 09/03/23) I forgot to answer your question. Yes that is the gas tank peeking out behind the flywheel.

Thanks, originally thought it was a toolbox or air filter housing but knew that couldn't be right.
