Tractor runs hot

Im in need of a new or remanded radiator for my case 430/440 gas engine. Any suggestions
This one has been sent to the shop and upon return it still runs hot I have replaced the thermostat water pump hoses cap and new coolant flushed the block and the radiator flows as it should. Im at a loss also gave a new oil change. Any suggestions PLEASE Im in desperate need of Ugly Betty to get back to normal so my farm dont look abandoned from the overgrowth.

Slipping belt- loose, worn belt, worn pullies. Check for leaking head gasket, cracked head. Timing off, lean mixture due to dirty carb or miss adjusted. How many of these possible problems have you checked for before starting spending for repairs that may not have been needed.

a little clue,... retarded timing makes an engine run hot. have u checked the timing??? AND is the thermostat NOT unside down??? AND what do you mean by hot??? boiling ? and how long has this been going on think back .

and one more thing, i can be the water pump impeller . have you removed the thermostat and filled it to the top and see what the coolant is doing. it should be flowing pretty good at w. o. t.

Hello SL welcome to YT! So which is it? In your other post about your governor you say the radiator DOES FLOW PROPERLY? What is telling you it is hot? Is it just the gauge telling you it is hot or is it boiling over and steaming? Just the gauge and no other symptoms you should get a hand held IR gun and see what that tells you the external temps
show. If there is coolant being pushed out but the temp does not seem high do this. Run it up to operating temperature. Fill the radiator all the way to the top. Disconnect the fan belt and start it. If there is bubbling in the radiator almost immediately you likely have a bad head gasket. The bubbles are from compression being pushed into the cooling system.

I second the idea of timing being off. I'm not familiar with your tractor, is it battery ignition? If so check for proper operation of the advance mechanism. How long does it take to get hot? One minute, one hour etc. Does it get hot just idling in the yard or do you have to work it to get it hot? And again, what makes you think it's hot? Does it smell hot or the radiator overflows or the temperature gauge shows hot? Let us know more info so we can be more helpful.

If you shine a light behind the radiator can you see through it or is it plugged so no air can get through it? IS the fan belt loose, timing correct ,impeller slipping( not turning) on shaft, did you check thermostat in a pan of water with a candy thermometer for opening close to the correct temperature, does block flow water good when just the block is open to do so. Are the hoses not separated letting the hose collapse or shut itself down for flow. Lots of options to check. As well as worn pulleys and belts.

All the above has been checked and changed the radiator is clear it was removed flushed checked and the flow appears to be ok. Now keep in mind I dont have anything to compare the flow to however the flow is as fast coming out as going in for both directions. That would seem like the only logical thing left to replace. It is the original radiator.

Dave it runs hot at an idle it takes about 8 minutes and if I
drive it it takes about 5 minutes Im in the proper gear no
revving of the engine. Yes to all your questions its spews
out the overflow tube. It steams and one can smell it, and
it runs hot on the gauge as well. All the indicators of it
running hot. I have put a temperature probe in it, and the
temperature gauge is correct when it starts to run hot it
goes fast not just a gradual incline itll go from
approximately 185 to 220 fast thats when I shut it down I
had the radiator rotted out last year and the man told me
that eventually I would have to replace my radiator, but he
didnt give me any details why

As I replied to Dave yes its definitely running hot. Also the thermostat is placed correctly. Its a brand new thermostat. I tested it before I installed it and I will try what you suggested and Ill get back to you. I appreciate your response.

It has a new belt, a new water pump. The pulley is fine. Its been checked new thermostat new hoses. The radiator has been rodded cleaned The block has been flushed, but it is the original radiator. I have not checked the timing. I am going to do that today. It does not skip miss burp fart or anything else when it runs it does not run at a high idle it sounds perfect when its running, but that doesnt mean anything I understand I will have to check the timing. Soon as I fix the problem, I messed up on the carburetor somehow yesterday. I so appreciate all the responses yall are making me think of things I havent in my frustration of chasing this ghost.

As previously stated . Worn belt pulleys and worn glazed belts . A pulley may look "fine" but is worn out .
Any shroud around the fan and rad ?
How close is the fan to the rad cores ?

Radiator has shroud built on to it the fan is 2-3 away
from radiator it appears that the pulley is ok belt doesnt
slip its tight. Just my luck its probably the head Ill have
to dig into that another time. Thank you for responding I
sure appreciate everyone for the information. Ill keep
everyone posted.
