In my area, So IL, they go up and down the rivers killing 40 to 80 year old trees by chewing the bark off around the base of the trees.

Aggravating is an understatement. I have learned they can build a dam from corn stalks that seems to be just as strong as one made from trees.

Beavers were the main reason there was so much growing in the upper midwest and plains states before they were trapped almost to extinction. Trapped water on all the streams.
