Getting a fuel gauge to work again!!!

I have a JD 5210 that has the fuel gauge in an instrument cluster. So you can not buy just the gauge. A few weeks ago the fuel gauge needle spun completely around and was caught on the wrong side of the stop pin. My son and I thought about it an he came up with the idea of using a strong magnet to flip the needle back around. It worked!!!! Gauge works fine now.
I do not think it will work on old style gauges as they have a clock spring arrangement that gets damaged if they spin all the way around. This type of gauge is an induction type. I think it got flipped when I hauled the tractor on my skid steer trailer a few weeks ago. That trailer rides rough on the concrete roads around here. So with the fuel in the tank sloshing around and the tractor bouncing, the needle went passed full too far.
