I'm OK with displaying my total ignorance. So what is an ''Oil Pull''? Is it a type of mechanism, or a type of tractor, or a brand name? Thanks for laughing with me and not at me. steve

Do you mean as in the 'Rumley Oil Pull' tractor?

I haven't a clue. I've always wondered that, myself.

Wikipedia is your friend: The Rumely Oil Pull was a line of farm tractors developed by Advance-Rumely Company[1] from 1909 and sold 1910 to 1930. Most were heavy tractors powered by an internal combustion, magneto fired engine designed to burn all kerosene grades at any load, called the Oil Turn

The big thing with an oil pull is that the engine was cooled with oil vs water. I think this was to allow for somewhat hotter temperatures for burning kerosene.

I believe Hart Parr had the first oil cooled, but one of their engineers went to work for Rumely and the Rumely Oil Pull came out soon after.

SEE, and not a snicker out of any of you - at least that I could hear. I knew you'd come through. And I know Google, I just trust you guys more, to have the little tidbits that Google would never consolidate for me. steve
