Best Grease

Ford 2000; 3 cyl; 8/2 trans......It's time to grease my tractor and implements and I'd like to ask what's everyone's opinion of the best grease? Would like to settle on one grease for tractor and implement zerks. Any opinions out there?

Brand is wayyyy less important that just using it. I ve used all sorts of brands and can t say there is a noticable difference between any.

Fully agree with MJMJ. Nearly any of todays grease is
far better than what was around in the 70s. And just
doing it (and ensuring that each grease zerk is
actually taking grease) is 99 percent of the battle.

its just a tractor and implements, as long as it gets greased all is good. there is no hi heat , or high rpm, or such thing u need to worry
about, just grease it with waht u find on sale. there is expensive grease for them special applications.

Primrose. It stays where you put it like in bushings. I've tried some other brands and after a short time the grease works it's way out . The Primrose seems to stay where it's needed. I use a lot less than with some other brands.

Any grease is better than none and will be fine. this horse get beat to death every few months and always the same out come. Some have a brand preference and some use the cheapest they can find and then a percentage will use what they think is the best most expensive grease they can find. Choose as you wish.

X4 For mystic Red . Once I found out I could grease Alternator bearings at 100,000 miles and they went to 200,000 miles , I just kept using the stuff.
I purchase by the 5 gallon bucket and fill grease guns by pump.

If your going Synthetic you will need to stay with it. My understanding is it's not compatible with lithium
based grease. When I was still farming I used moly based grease and thought I had less bearing failures.
Still use for my mowers, tractors and vehicles.

I have been using Mobilgrease XHP 222, no. 2, Lithium Complex, Blue, for both plain and roller/ball bearings. As has been said, it's more important to use often than
exactly what brand/type.

Grease salesmen always say that their absurdly
expensive grease saves money because you only need to
grease half as often. They fail to take into consideration
that greases other function is to expel dirt. In a case of a
small 3-point disk with iron bushings operating in a
constant shower of dirt, you can scarcely cut down the
grease intervals; if once a day was required to expel dirt,
now every other day with the expensive grease ,half the
time the bearings are running in lapping compound. The
best grease in the world cant stop that. They used to be
so proud to demonstrate that hammer grease. but it
doesnt do a dang bit of good if it is full of dirt.

My two cents, I use the tractor supply brand but get the red tacky stuff. And I try to hit all the fittings on
everything before use. Dont know how many times I miss a bearing a few times in a row that burns up.
Grease is cheap compared to repairs. On my Kuhn Tedder, previous owner probably rarely used grease.
Chewed up all the pinion gears, the bull gears and two rotor needle bearing hubs. I bought it at a
consignment auction so no way to tell the condition.
