The lady where I go to pick blueberries found out I like tractors. She said she had one with a brush hog, up behind the barn, that she was tired of mowing around and wanted gone. I made a modest offer and she said sold. Friend and I got it Wednesday. 1946 M and 5' cutter. I wanted the cutter mostly, because the 7' and 14' Woods mowers I have are too big for some places I need to trim. We fussed with it after we got home- engine turns over, but no spark from the H4 mag. A job for later. Tin is straight and had a pair of fenders hidden in the grass. Loading a dead tractor without pulling it couldn't have gone any easier- we didn't even need to use the winch to get it on the trailer. Gravity was our friend after I aired up the tires.

Just curious why people hook through the front wheels for tie down. I just hook the hook in the frame rail behind the block ear so it can't get wedged in by the front bolster. with one on each side it can't go any where and I don't have to worry about breaking that cast wheel center. Like when people strap through the rear wheel casting with straps and then wonder why their strap is worn out in a few trips of that. Straps even though tight let things wiggle just enough to chafe things. Chains tight don't do that and hold better. Nice looking M too.
 
Nice old M and a good find. By the way, I don't care if he ran the chain over the top of the hood, it's his tractor.
 
just clean the points as they get a film on them and dont make slean contac. I remove them shine up on a wire motor brush and they will work again
 
custom made by Cross Country Mfg in Coventry, NY. I had a similar one that rusted badly after years of use, they used it as a pattern and made this one. 102 wide and the whole deck tilts hydraulic/electric. Drive over fenders. Works/trails nice.
