International 504 steering

I have a 1964 International 504 that was bought new by my father-in-law and his dad. It is a single wheel tricycle front end with no power steering. There are 4-5 u-joints from the steering wheel to the actual steering gear. The steering is hard and sometimes locks up, u-joints probably need replacement. There is probably a lot of wear in the steering components as well. Does any manufacturer make a wide front-end setup for this tractor with power steering?

Hello dew welcome to YT! IH made a wide front. See
the link Section 04 ..Front Axle.. and 2nd from bottom
..Steering Mechanism.. However, the majority of the
parts are no longer available through the dealer. It
would be quite time consuming to switch one over but
it could be done. You would just about have to buy a
parts tractor with a PS wide front and swap the parts
from one to the other. As far as an aftermarket
company making a conversion if that is what you are
asking, that is highly unlikely. Why would a company
want to ..reinvent the wheel..?

Factory power steering on a 504 is a steering motor that replaces the steering column on the tractor. The steering wheel attaches directly to this motor.

The shafts and U-joints are still involved, so you would still need to fix them, IF you can find the parts to make the conversion. You need the motor, the lines, and the valving to tap off the factory hydraulics to make it work.

There was at least one aftermarket wide front, but that also used the factory steering shafts and gearbox. It simply bolted on in place of the narrow front, just like the factory wide front. I don't think you can get these new anymore.
