PTO Pump removal

Trying to remove pto pump from a JD 70 that had a loader on it. Does not appear to be any locking pin, but it is tight on the pto shaft. Tried using large pry bars but it will not budge. Figure I would ask for help before I wreck something.

They just slide off. No 'keepers'.Probably a 'step' is worn into the splines. Try to rotate the pump backwards on the shaft to free it up. Could also be rust/dirt inside.Good luck, they can be a 'bear cat' at times.

Start soaking from the front and back with penetrant.
Then take a long brass punch and tap the shaft from the back lightly while someone holds out on the pump.

if ant tractor pto splines are visible a long punch put in a spline n tap backwards of rotation. it could have a wore spot n is hung in it. release pto clutch brake so your not beating against a dead horse so to say

Or if not feasible, make a puller bridge using extra long bolts in the 4 holes on either side of the spline shaft.

Better look again as they just do not slide on without something to hold them on. Most common is a button u must push in while pulling it off a bit ,that fits in the spline groove. Post a picture of the other end on the pto, the rear picture is of no help.
