Ford 5000 knocking

Hi guys first time posting on this site.
I have a Ford 5000 and it started knocking this hay season.
It actually sounds like more of a clunk type of sound from down low in the block.
Could the balancer make a sound like this?
Also it looks like I'd have to either pull the engine out or the front end off to remove the oil pan to try and figure out where this noise is coming from.
Thanks Gary

There is 2 different gas engines and at least 1 possibly 2 diecel engines
used in the 5000 so if you can give what engine it might help somebody help
you.

Hello Gary welcome to YT! To see if it is a rod bearing
pull the plug wire off an each cylinder one at a time
and give it a little rev up. If the rod bearing is going out
the knock will be far less when that cylinder is not
firing. On a diesel crack the injector line on each
cylinder.

It could... but start with an injector drop test. Open them one at a time at a fast idle and see if the noise goes away with the
line open. If it does, then I'd swap another injector into the hole where you find the noise goes away with the line open. You
could be dealing with a bad injector, a broken pump plunger spring, bad bearings or a few other things. That said, if the mains or
rods are bad, it should light the oil pressure light at a hot idle..

To get around pulling the front end off you just replace two of those bolts with two that are four inches longer, then after removing the others you slide the bolster ahead on the two long ones.
