Hello I have a 1937 John Deere AR that I just purchased that has been sitting in a barn I checked the coolant it was green and full drained out the bad gas out of the fuel tank gave it a few spins and it started right up and in just a few minutes overheated radiator was hot block and head were hot any ideas of what it could be this style doesnt have a water pump so looking to see if anyone knows whats wrong

Was it boiling? You need to get something to check the actual temp. I have a 27 D. When it's running, you can't keep you hand on the block or radiator and it seemed very hot but, I checked it once with a heat gun and it wasn't overheating.

that is the thermosyphen cooling system ,no water pump .it will get hot in warm weather .but get a heat gun check it .you might have plugged radiator core

Be sure the radiator is full. Thermosyphon systems will overheat quickly if the crossover from the upper pipe to the radiator is not covered. Simple thing but easily overlooked.

Halve you put anti freeze in it? If yes was it full strength or pre mix? unmixes antifreeze and water will not mix in that type of system. Has to be mixes before puting in radiator.
