I'm getting a new right knee tomorrow. Had the left one done 4-5 years ago and
it turned out great!! I have a few concerns but I'm basically looking forward to
getting it done. Got all the kids lined up for transportation and such.
Stocked up on frozen pizza and lasagna so we should be good. Doc sent out a $20,000
exercise machine to be used for 3 weeks. It looks like a good thing. Supposed to use it 5 times
a day for 12 mins at a time. Won't have any time to rest!!!
I have to be there at 530 am, surgery at 8 am. And now the insurance companies call knee replacement
outpatient surgery!!! So, a very real possibility I'll be home tomorrow afternoon or evening!!
I'll get back to you guys when I feel like getting to my desk.

I had hips replaced in '09 and '10 and was three days in with light therapy. I had one revised three years ago, replaced the cup and ball, and went home the next day. Therapist came to the house a few times.

I had a shoulder joint replacement about 8 months ago, and to tell the truth, It's not just right even now. I did six months of physical therapy. I'm not sure if the physical therapy really helped or if it was simply 6 months of natural healing.

Isn't getting old fun?

Shoulders are tough. I have had both of mine repaired years ago and then last December I fell and turned out that I tore my rotator cuff. After three weeks of no improvement I went to the clinic and got referred to PT. I got a lot better during the six weeks of PT. The therapist told me that 5% of PT patients do there exercises at home between visits, so he really like working with me because I was doing extra. It has now been six months and I continue to do my exercises every morning, and I gain a little every day.

I wish you well on your surgery and recovery.

I'm 74 and have all OEM joints.

It took me 5 years to add on to my house. 1991-1996. I did most of the work myself.

That's when I discovered my knees were bone on bone. I could hear the bones rubbing. Their vibrations could be heard on the wood floor. OUCH.

So for about 30 years I've been taking Osto-bioflex which was recommended by the arthritis foundation.

I think of Osto-bioflex as adding grease to your ball joints and tie rods.

My joints are better now than they were 30 years ago.

So if your joints haven't been damaged, please read up on Osto-bioflex.

My late wife's ball joint, hip joint, was no longer round, it was flat on the top.

It took 2 hip replacements to get it right.

I plan to keep my OEM joints as long as possible, keep them lubricated. I now take a generic version of Osto-bioflex, 2 pills a day.

Best wishes and hope all goes well. I am due for the same operations but we have a two year wait here even on fast track. Say it takes about an hour and a half to replace hip and around five hours for the knee, then a stay in for two to three days.

glad to hear of the success of the first one, may this one go as well. like george, i too am still OEM. i will have to look into the stuff he's talking about. i've heard of it before, but never bothered to check it out because i wasn't old yet. strangely enough, tho, i have not gotten any younger since then.

I'm on week 11 with my new left knee. Doing really well until I tripped and fell on it on my 2 mile walk a couple days ago. Just a little extra pain for the next couple of days and I'll be back at it. Went up into the mountains for a load of firewood about 2 weeks ago. That was a good workout for it, and after a good rest and elevation, it was just fine. Keep it moving from the minute the nerve block wears off. Steve

I have worked on trucks my whole life, 40 yrs. Lots of climbing, standing on hard surfaces. I noticed my knee pain after buying this house and doing a lot of work in the attic-mostly crouching or kneeling. I started taking osteo bi flex about 30 yrs ago also and it sure helped. I take 2 a day also. My knees do not hurt. Mark.
