Just got unloaded Tuesday from last weeks Power From the Past show. It was hot but had a good turnout.Lots of AC orange. Had as good of a time as possable, I have been under the weather for two weeks. I managed to load my 39 Ford and friends helped me unload. I then drove home and hooked up the little trailer to my 64 F 100 and load golf cart. Show went well and rain held off, took some photos My friend loaded my tractor for me. That is why I did not notice until yesterday , some lowlife stole my radiator cap, an original hard to pry from collectors hands. The new ones are $10-12 almost anywhere. Might be my last show. Joe

Thieves are the lowest life. Seems like nowadays people just help themselves to anything they happen to like.

I've heard that magnetos gather a lot of attention from thieves at shows. Pretty quick removal and then it's long gone, a rad cap even quicker. How far do you live from the show site?

You can't just give up on life and hide in your basement because of one idiot. If everybody did that, the streets would be empty. The world has a way of dealing with people like the culprit in your case.

I have a Deere M that I take to a show from time to time. Went to get it a couple days after the show
(too many things happening to get it right after the show, usually secure) and it wouldn't start.
Finally checked other side of the tractor, someone had cut coil wires and the distributor wire.
Wires had been CUT, not pulled off. Guess someone wanted to try out their Leatherman.
Happened to have my wiring kit with me, so crimped up the wires and started right up.
One of life's irritations.

The world probably already has. The culprit is already leading a miserable life, otherwise they would not need to resort to petty acts of mayhem to make themselves feel better for a moment.

a few years ago at local tractor show a man had his son dragging late model John Deere a around the show grounds as the a wouldn't some one had switched spark plug around.
finally the tractor made a big bang as it was flooded. broke cover plate on top of block and some stuff in block ruined the block.
i'm thinking tractor owner made someone mad as owner was know to be loud mouth know it all he didn't have the answer no else would either.

Rrund I'm not giving up on life, however at 76 is harder to do almost everything. Besides that tonighy when I win the lottery .......
CH I only live 10 miles from the show grounds.

Joe wish I could have made it but just not doing good health wise this year and I don't know if my old truck would have made the trip.

Bruce, Thank you for the offer I found one on ebay, however it needs rebuilt. Now I have a rebuild kit on the way. Thanks again, joe

(quoted from post at 03:03:52 07/20/23) Seems that being a thief is getting a lot more popular all the time and most shows aren't nearly what they were at one time.

Is it really? I'd say it's about the same, and just because it happened to someone you know doesn't mean it's happening more often. It was just happening to people you didn't know.

The shows are dying off because the guys with the tractors are getting too old to do it anymore, or are dying off. Thievery has little to do with it.

Barnyard , I agree with the getting old reason. 20 years ago I would drive long distance for a show featuring Ford. We had a nice group that hung out together. Now some have past, all are older and slowed down. I bought a 1964 Ford F-100 truck to go with the tractors. I then found car/truck shows, just as much fun, much less work (no trailers, no chaining, no ramps ). Car show people are as friendly as tractor people. That said I have been to 5 car shows and one tractor show (so far) this year. I will still go to local show. By the way got another radiator cap, needs rebuilt, have kit on the way, total around $75.00 thanks joe
