Front mount snowblower

I want to build a bracket useing angle iron that I can use to mount a snowblower on the front of an older tractor like an Oliver 1800 or a JD 730. My question is does anyone know of a device that you can use to transfer the PTO output to go forward under the tractor? Also has anyone ever donde this before?

I'm looking for a parts swing tongue haybine to rib the pump and motor from. The. I'll use the frame to make a tandem hitch for a pair of hay rakes.

We had a Massey Ferguson 135 with a side mount mower that had a bracket mounted to the back of the tractor to run chain sprockets to drive a forward facing pto shaft to the mower. That type of setup should work for a front mount snow blower. You would need a set of gears to change shaft rotation or modify the blower to get it turning the right direction. You will also have to be careful with shaft to frame or axle clearance. Or the 3010 - 4020 series Deeres (maybe more) had a 1000 rpm belly pto shaft.

have seen pictures of tractor belly mowers where belt pulls and crossed belt were used

Zuidberg and Laforge Group make front PTO gearboxes. I'm not sure how they mount and get power though.

Dieseltech on here has a front mount snowblower and has posted pictures of it from time to time. You could search for his posts on modern view.

I have a surplus Hinicker snowblower undercarriage with the driveline for rear PTO in N.D., where are you?

I also have 4020 with a front-mount Hinicker snowblower on her that I use. That one is a mid PTO drive, and also an Erskine 960F with the under carriage and driveline for rear PRO drive that I INTEND to use, probably with 1370 or 2390 Case.

Some rear ''PTO dropboxes'' are gear drive that reverse rotation, some are chain drive that do NOT reverse rotation.

Be sure to understand which way a PTO turns and which way your snowblower needs to turn before committing to buy one type or the other!

The BER-VAC front mount I have on the JD 4630 has two 3X3 square tubes for the main frame and a reversing gearbox for the front drive to the blower between the tube frame. Let me know if you don't find the pics in the archives.

Look at pictures of Erskine and other front mount machines and it will become obvious as to the engineering for the PTO drive. Will the gear box on your blower turn the appropriate rotation? If a rear mount originally you will need to re-arrange the gear set in the box if possible. Can you get somebody to offer hands on help to oversee your project?

Homemade reverser, not mine.
