John Deere part number

(quoted from post at 04:20:46 07/17/23) You sure it's not A78392? That number comes up on JD parts.
it s for k91 transaxle I need the long odd shaped o ring under the right side cover.I looked it up on jdparts the number was am878392 but come up not available.thanks for your help I can t get into the Tuff torq parts website

The prefix letters are an important part of a John Deere part number, the part number is not just the digits you first posted.

A part number search for AM878392, comes up as a case kit for the 425 and 455 lawn and garden tractors. It is a kit, not one O-ring. That part number has been superseded by other numbers. Looks like major changes to do that.

If you want just the seal ring, can you get some bulk O-ring or quad stock and Super Glue and make your own? That is a stationary seal and other applications sometimes use bulk stock to make that type of seal. McMaster is one place that carries bulk stock and there may be supply houses near your that have it as well.

Jim.ME is correct that AM878392 is the number for a whole replacement case section. I looked through the parts diagram (as well as some other forums) and don't see any pictures or any mention of an o-
ring that goes in there when that case half goes on. I saw a few places that the only sealer on that cover is RTV. Was there an o-ring in there when you took it apart?

t s on a 1999 John Deere 455 thanks for your time and help.

I agree that groove looks like it is just begging for a seal, but can't see any documentation of one being in there. Including a post on Green
Tractor Talk forum where a guy listed out the JD part numbers for every seal, gasket, etc. needed to completely rebuild a K91 with pictures of
where they go. If you don't get the answer you need here check out either the Green Tractor Talk or Weekend Freedom Machines websites and
forums. There is an unbelievable wealth of knowledge on those two sites about John Deere L&G equipment.
