Dad had a good idea

Dad would put window screen over his radiator to keep stuff from plugging up the fins. I started doing it on my JD 401 B. For the motor size I think the radiator is a little too small, but if I keep the radiator clean it stays cool. The tractor has side curtains, but the wild oat heads. and other seeds somehow get through. They may come up from the bottom. Stan

I use window screens to keep bugs and stuff from choking the condenser on Window AC.

My farmall C uses window screens too.

Your dad is right, window screens work well.

I seem to recall back in the day you could buy radiator screens just for that purpose. They probably fell out of fashion when AC condensers became common and there wasn't any room to install the screen.

I do that to my window units too to keep the dirt dobers from building nests on or in the area of the fan causing either the fan to vibrate or jam up and not turn.

I blow my radiators out after every brush hogging job I do. On a long day I may have to do it sooner as the tractor will start to run hotter. Both my newer Kubota's have screens on them from the factory too. My older 1988 model doesn't have one.
