I recently purchased black stripe Farmhand F11 loader in good shape with no welds. I realize these often need future welding repair/bracing on the loader arms directly above where the cylinder attaches. I bought to replace an old, worn out F11 on Oliver 1650, that had extensive welding repair from years of use. Looking for comments on whether I should have additional steel plating welded on the inside of the main arms to strengthen the loader before I have potential cracks and need future repairs.

If you intend to push its limits, triangulation and reinforcement is a good idea. If the two are similar, I would take careful note of the repairs and how well they have worked, then put effort into making structural improvements that will create a more robust tool. I would resist a patch like job, and carefully make cardboard templates and flame (or plasma) cut the components, duplicates for symmetry side to side. then use best practices in welding. skip welding and pic hammering hot welds, cleaning and wire brushing then filling the skips to avoid heat stress buildup. Your post brought back to my memory of a VERY similar incident. Loading silage onto a truck using a neighbors tractor loader which was an
Oliver 1650 with the F11, the weldment that supported the lower left side boom cylinder broke off. As the now unsupported cylinder shot
back under the loader frame, the hose pulled apart which let the bucket drop while it was over the side of the truck body.
At the time, everyone around used a wood beet box with a side dump. The loader bucket broke down thru the extensions that were installed
for silage harvest and as luck would have it, the side of the box itself was not damaged.
You could see that the cylinder mount had been welded only on the top part.
