Farm Driveway Trail Cam?

We have both Bushnell and Stealth, the Bushnell work a little better. We use ours mostly for game, but have one on our driveway, lots of game there too. We have a couple of old ones that don't work anymore, I leave them up in conspicuous places, as decoys. Don't point them towards the sun,

Our trail cam may show animals at night, but that would not be good enough to identify the criminals.
Better lighting better quality.
Put lighting behind camera.

One time on the local news they showed 2 guys and a pickup stealing diesel from a large tank.
Very poor quality picture. Cops couldn't do anything about it.

If you had WiFi a ring camera would alert you the instant someone was there.

No recommendations on trail camera, sorry mine isn't that good..

Get a cellular camera made by Muddy. I have four of them I use during hunting season and I am using them at home right now for home security. Got two out on the driveway facing each direction and one at each barn. $5.00 per camera monthly fee

You want a cellular camera that will send the pictures directly to your cell phone. I have a Tactacam Reveal. Your cell phone coverage (strength of signal) will play a factor in how well any cellular camera will work. I have Verizon for my cell phone and have excellent results with the camera. When the camera takes a picture i will receive a notification beep on my phone alerting me that a pic has been taken and is on my phone. I will receive these pictures in less than 2 minutes from the time they are taken.

Ring cameras are good for instant phone notifications. About $30 a year for the ability to store and save videos. The only draw back is that it has to be placed within your wi-fi coverage area. Mine will work about halfway down my driveway but not at the gate.
My friend has a few of those rotating cameras that screw into a light socket. He loves them, phone notification and they track the subject.

Several years ago a friend of mine was dealing with thieves stealing gasoline out of his tank. When it was time to refill the tank he switched the gas tank to diesel and put diesel in the gas tank. A few days after that he caught them halfway down the driveway and all he said to them was cars dont run very well on diesel. He said they left pushing their car down the road. They never came back.

Why not just get one of those gates you can open with a garage door opener to open and close. No getting out in bad weather and no entry. I'm sure there is some maintenance to them. The picture Russ posted should be good enough to identify a person in.

I've had good luck with WYZE cameras and they are cheap ($33 amazoon) but they require power. SImplisafe has battery powered cameras but they are very expesive.

both would let you look at what's going on via your phone or computer.

Then all you'll have is a picture of the thief with your stuff - and a stern warning from law enforcement to not go get your stuff back.

Yup. Don't expect a "Law & Order" full court press for a few hundred dollars worth of tools or scrap metal.

Even if the stolen stuff is laying in the thieves' front yard the 4th amendment prevents them from doing anything except asking if it's stolen. You think the thieves are going to say "Yes" to that question?
