Replacing pto push button lock

The locking device which locks my cutter shaft to the
tractor pto shaft is missing .i bought one at tractor
supply but never replaced one before.there is a push
actuated shaft and a spring in the kit.what holds all
this in place?

Some are peened after insertion to make it fat and not come out. I have seen split rings as well. Jim

Replaced one in metric yoke, had plunger and spring, had to use washer over. Waited till son came by to help hold washer in to stake it.

As J said, there are different kinds. I don't think they're interchangeable.

I tried to get one of those replacement kits from NH. no longer available. Unsafe, I guess.
But later on, I did see some company advertising universal replacements kits.
Unfortunately, I never ordered one, or two.

I u-tubed it and ended up tack welding a larger OD washer to hold it in place

Yup had to change from the simple push pin on the yoke to all these fancy stupid and hard to get on things and most of them are just as hard to get off. change for the sake of change ,and more complication. I liked the simple push pin. Baler has that stupid twist ring deal and mower has a dumb triangle you have to pull back and lock with a push pin deal to get on. Augers have a ring to pull back as you push it on. Such counter acting junk. Don't even think about all that metric foreign made ideas. You can keep all those except the push pin on the side. Simple and easy.
