I am in search of a (1) hubcap for a 953 running gear. You fellas know of any sources?

They are thread in, they have the unmistakable JD stamp on the end.

S2582DW is the part number I see in the manual for that threaded hub cap. I see a few sources for new ones around the web, but the price isn't too appealing. Hopefully somebody on here has one laying around they would sell you.

Think there were 2styles, at least the 952 gear was different than the 953 And think the hub cap the only difference between the 952 and 953. And then the 963 took same cap, just axles made a bit heavier. Later ones were the drive in type.
