Farmall M Fuel Bowl Connection

One problem fixed, fuel bowl provides gas fine. Tractor running well. However, when i went to reconnect the steel line from carb to
sediment bowl, i noticed the sediment bowl end was not flared nor any brass fitting to form a seal.

Discussed with a technician and he said all the line does is fit in the sediment bowl brass fitting and the brass nuts tighten it down,
not working in my case and it leaks. Is this the case with other M's? I am tempted [;ace a hose firring on the bow; and connect with
rubber gas line. Any thoughts out there?

Thanks

IH used what's called a ''hi duty tube nut'' on the fuel line. It's a brass externally threaded ''nut'' with a ferrule made as part of it. The first time it's tightened the ferrule is squashed down on the tubing and breaks free of the ''nut''. If you want it to seal you need the correct, new nut as a standard compression fitting ferrule us just enough different NOT to seal. GOOGLE ''IH 29899D'' or this very site sells them as their Part Number 112642. You need to carefully cut the old ferrule off the line and install the new tube nut. If the line is damaged or badly squashed under the ferrule the line will need to be replaced, or can be possibly cut back if there is any extra line to work with. HTH!

agree, it like an ihc thing as they used to have their own stuff like carbs , injection pumps and so on. ihc made many things.

Looks like CNH part number is 222-503. I happened to have the tab open. Price was package of 5 for $22.75.
