Rookie question... I cracked the return line to the filter and when I cranked motor it was pumping fuel through the pump into the return to filter. Is this a good sign that it will work even though Did not get anything to injector lines when I tried (but did not crank for long) OR are these two functions independent (pumping to return vs pump to injectors. )

Do I need to crack ALL the injector lines to see if it pumps or is just one ok?

Thanks again as I try to revive this Perkins

I don't know the answer for sure or what tractor you are working on. On my 1105 massey it had a very specific procedure to bleed the air out. I though I was smart enough to not do it and couldn't get it going. Followed the instructions and got it going. This was after dieseltech rebuilt my pump and after a filter change. Took me 2 times to learn.

For best results CAV DPA pumps bleed best with ALL injector nuts 1/2 turn loose. MAKE SURE there's NO air at the bleed screw next to the name tag. Pump will NEVER work if there's any air at that fitting. the top cover bleed screw can be bled later after engine is running.
