I need help diagnosing the hydraulics on my 1968 JD 2020. All was working fine, while mowing, then i lost all hydraulics. I removed the hydraulic filter started the tractor, zero flow, no even a drip. I tried to look at the flow diverter valve, but i cannot get it pulled out, it is stuck in the tractor. I also have not removed the screen yet, although it was cleaned not to long ago. Would the diverter cause this? or screen, or maybe the pump went out?

Thanks for any info,
Todd Young

You may get a better response on the John Deere topic
section. I am fairly certain there are two pumps. One in
the transmission pumps lube oil for the transmission
but also pumps it up to a reservoir above the main
hydraulic pump up front under the radiator and fuel
tank. Only thing I can tell you for certain is to find a
way to view the actual shaft going in the front
hydraulic pump to see if it is turning. Not the drive
mechanism connecting to the front engine pulley but
the actual stub shaft that comes out of the hydraulic
pump. It is keyed to the drive coupler and can strip.

What valve are you referring to as a flow diverter valve? Pressure control IE priority valve is located by hyd filter cover. Trans pump oils trans gears/shafts, furnishes oil for hyd pto & hyd hi-lo or reverser. Remainder of trans pump oil is routed to front pump with any excess oil filling front reservoir. I suggest to check screen & check filter relief valve(item 18-20) to be sure it's not stuck open. One possibility is trans pump gear has broken.

Hi,
the relief valve is stuck in the tractor. I tried everything to pull it out. I really do not know of a tool to remove it. It is supposed to be pulled out with pliers, but it will not budge.

Thanks,
Todd
