Found a loophole

There's another loophole in USDOT that gives states the right to exempt some under 26k as long as they stay in the state.
Indiana is one of those states.

in the spirit of another recent thread, it's a good thing no one will be counting on me to back any of those up.

one of those skills i never got around to learning. at this point, the odds that i will are not getting better. maybe my next vehicle - hoping to get by with only one more after this one - will have one of those magic knobs.

No cdl required if you stay in indiana with farm tags and only have to plate for empty weight.

I knew a man who took his 1-ton Chevy van to Kansas and brought back an even larger Chevy cab-over truck on the trailer. That was in the '90s. He claimed the van didn't have to have a weighted tag because it was classified as an RV. (I'm in NC too.)

My state has a CDL exemption for farmers that is good up to 80,000 GVW and it is free. I have one and I'm not a farmer. It says I am a farm truck driver.
