Ford 4400 1970 - Holley carb lower cork gasket expanding

Hi - my tractor runs like crap. Its new to me. I rebuilt the Holley carb with a lot from here. The cork gasket at the bottom of the carb, referred to on the CNHI parts site as the air horn, keeps swelling and then falls out of place. This isnt my only issue, but has happened a couple times. Any idea what is happening and how to prevent the swelling? Replacements are $26 so I cut the last one out of cork gasket paper from naps. Same result as the one from here. Thanks for the help

I went to CNH parts online and the images are terrible when enlarged. I did not see anything in the parts list that said air horn. I also did not see any anything in that blurry mess that suggested a $26 cork gasket, other than the float bowl gasket. If you could post a picture of your carb, and the problem area, that would be helpful in tracking down your trouble.

I call that the back fire flap,,I would cut a paper gasket, and glue it to the round disc and not the upper body. Make sure the spring clip that holds it in place still has tension on it. Does your tractor back fire a lot??

I suspect he's talking about Key #30, part #C5NE9H519A.

Hey - this part #30 is the correct issue. It does backfire a fair amount. I did the carb rebuild and it is continuing to run poorly. Seemed fine for the first few runs but now sputters and is gut less. Always does fine on cold start, but if it dies well warm it struggles to restart. I will try the gasket paper and glue approach next.

Thoughts on the running troubles? I that maybe a vacuum advance problem, but I really dont know what I am doing here. I did buy a new coil and distributor off here but havent installed yet.

One other note is that my tractor was converted to an electric fuel pump before I got it. I did put an in line filter in front of the pump to help catch junk. The filter is full of fuel and really doesnt seem like thats my issue. I have not drained the tank or replaced the fuel tap yet

Any tips are appreciated!
