JD 630 plowing

I plowed the garden this morning. I am not brazen enough to think I am going to win any plowing contest but I think the tractor and I did a decent job. The plow is a JD 416A. It was originally a 4 bottom plow but the guy I bought it from took a bottom off so he could use it on his JD 70. It has 14 inch bottoms.

Nice looking outfit. The problem with just plowing a garden is you are done before you get the plow shined up and figure out the adjustments. Looks like you did a good job. The difference between a good and bad plowing job can usually be fixed with one pass of a disc. Tom

NICE JOB of plowing, I plowed a ton of acres back in the day more with 20 series than 30. While a 630 can handle 4 bottoms SUBJECT TO DEPTH SOIL AND MOISTURE I prefer 3 so you can plow deeper and/or faster. If EACH furrow is turning the same amount of earth leaving things level thats great !!!!!!! I like furrow wheels and some plows even have a land wheel. Looks like it was a bit wet and its hard to set up a plow prefect until more acres have been covered and the moldboards slick.

Nice job thanks for sharing

Nice job of plowing, that was one of my favorite jobs as a kid growing up,and can remember mom saying plow my garden, that was the easy part but hitting it with the disk, at the right time to break up the lumps was another !!

My 620 plowing at plow day. The plow is a 2-16 F-125 that I bought from the original owner. That's as much plow as you want here unless you only want to plow a couple inches deep. Where I grew up, I plowed with an R JD pulling 5-16s. Here, 3-14s is a load for an R.

3 14s is a nice load on our soils for my 630. Taken at our plow day a few years ago. Cockshutt drag plow with hydraulic lift.
