Burning Green in New Jersey

My neighbors garage just burnt down after mowing
the lawn and parking gas mower inside the garage.
They suspect hot muffler and grass clippings
caused the fire.

I've heard about this but don't know much about the details. I'm not defending Deere but you can bet that some State workers are poor machine operators and rarely inspect their
equipment for faults, problems and risks.

That happened to someone near our far last summer, got done mowing, drove it in the garage, went in the house, and the garage burned down! Pretty common, if you don't let them cool and blow them off. We use our leaf blower to blow off the mower every time we get done using it.

Another neighbor says he has to blow the grass out of his radiator before using his mower.

I have a JD lawn mower and it too needs the grass blown out of the radiator.
I have a 20v dewalt leaf blower sitting next to my JD mower

I disagree with that statement. All utilities workers and public works guys are meticulous about checkijg every morning, all fluid levels, greasing , checkking oils, etc. They are very careful, at least all the guys I ever knew over 20+ years.

Poor machine operators? Have you ever watched them mow a bridge embankment? Paved ditch at the bottom and guardrail at the top? Crabbing sideways the whole time? When they pull in behind that guardrail they're trapped. Pretty good operators in my view.
