Low kw electric start generator

What are some recommendations for a good quality or better, low kw generator the has an electric starter or better yet, a remote start?

It will be used as a backup for a small solar generator to charge the batteries. For the size of the system, 1kw is fine but I think the smallest with an electric start is 2kw. It will be wired to start automatically if the batteries drop below a certain charge level, hence the need for an electric start.

Thanks.

You might look for a used RV generator, compact, quiet, dependable. I have an OLD Onan genset, it runs at 1800 RPM. Remote start also. Wish you luck. joe

I have 2 champion 3500 W generators
Some say they are honda clones.

A New carb is around $20.
New carb has a fuel mix screw.
Old carb doesn't have a fuel adj screw.

What's the point of an idle adjustment screw on a generator, George? They almost never idle.

For my Honda RV generator, I have different main jets for different elevations. The stock jet is good up to 4000 feet. Then there's one that goes from 4000 to 8000 feet. I also accidentally bought the jet for elevations over 8K feet, but haven't used it yet.

Mark,
You can't adjust the fuel/air mixture on California compliant carbs like you can on new China carbs.

I recently had to buy a new carb because my fuel line cracked and started leaking. I turned the fuel off and inside the carb turned to rust. In my opinion the rust was caused by condensation inside the carb.

No idle adjustment on generators. However there is a high speed adjustment to set the frequency to 60 hz.

Some say rust is caused by ethanol.
If ethanol causes rust, why is the inside of the gas tank rust free and the carb wasn't?

What Mark is trying to tell you is the adjustment screw on a Honda/clone carburetor is for the idle mixture. The main jet is fixed,, that is unless you have a Honda carburetor I have never seen or heard of.

I haven't seen a generator smaller than 3500Kw with an electric start, let alone a remote.

A friend of mine had a Honda eu3000is that he added a remote start kit to for his travel trailer. It worked very well. He could hit the button from his bed and have hot fresh coffee by the time he got up. It also didn't turn the campsite into an active industrial complex like the clanky Onans other campers had.

Sure you can. You change out the jet, which I do when I take our camper out west.

Here's a Honda (quality brand) 2800 Watt Inverter Generator with electric start that's likely big enough to power a roof AC especially if equipped with Soft Start. I haven't seen a 2KW electric start but Id guess someone makes them ?? I would certainly consider an Inverter Genset although they are more expensive and if you bumped it up to a 2800 versus 2000 Watt you can power a bigger load or maybe charge batteries faster..........

A so called Solar Generator consists of Lithium Iron Phosphate LiFePo4 battery plus a built in DC to 120 VAC Inverter, a charger, and maybe USB and 12 VDC outlets. The battery may be recharged by solar panels,,,,,,,12 VDC from a vehicle,,,,,,120 VAC from the utility or a genset in your case.

I have owned RV's over fifty years, dry camp often, now equipped with Solar and Lithium, so I like your plan, good luck with it..

Good Friday Morning, Ive owned more types brands and sizes of gensets then average
in my 50 years of RVing and actually in MY experience the many Onan or now Cummins
Onan gensets Ive owned ESPECIALLY THE 1800 RPM are MUCH MUCH MORE quiet than many
other brands ESPECIALLY those Open Frame loud screaming construction gensets
grrrrrrrrrrrrr lol

NOTE where I agree with you to an extent, in MY experience the Inverter Gensets are
even more quiet than the non inverter Onan onboard RV gensets. Some of those Honda or
Yamaha etc portable Inverter gensets are soooooooooooooooo quiet

Of course different users have had different experiences, Im ONLY saying MY
experience with Onan has been they were much more quiet then many other brands but
hey everyone has had different experiences, some good some bad.......

NOTE its been Generac I had worse luck with

Nice chatting with you, hope you have a nice day, take care

At full rpm with light loads . The idle circuit plays a significant role .
Saves fuel via being a little lean at light to no load . Main jet a wee bit richer for full load .

Who ever said that they wish their generator was smaller ?

''It will be wired to start automatically if the batteries drop below a certain charge level, hence the need for an electric start''

That part might be tricky?

I don't know but I bet some solar system seller has such a gizmo? That can do that.

What if it is not needed until after the gas has gone bad? Unless it is hooked up to the RV tank?

If it is for an RV.....

There is no main jet to remove.
There is no idle to the generator, it runs at a constant RPM. Load or no load. There is a frequency meter on one generator. 60 hz.
I installed an aftermarket frequency meter on the other generator.
If you change the RPMs guess what, you change the frequency? Trust me the RPMs are constant and frequency is adjusted to 60 hz.

Did you read I already own 2 Champions?

Too Late. I'm happy with both champions.
Don't use them very much anymore.

Me, every time I load my 130 pound Honda EU3000is in the back of my pickup.
