Is there a difference between a 47-49 block and one from a 50-52, and if so what is it?

1947-1948-1949-1950 blocks the same with a John Deere Part No AA4182 casting no-
A3462R... 1950-1951-1952 blocks the same JD part no-AA5052R Casting no- A3703R or
A4320R.. I don't know what is different???

The bolt pattern where the block bolts to the crankcase is different. Other than that, they are the same. You are not going to swap one for the other without drilling and tapping new holes in the main case.

If I reemember right, the late block will also fit a 60
