John deere 620 running issues

John deere 620. Rebuilt carb. Idles great, then push the throttle up
and it starts choking and sputtering and struggles to gain speed.
Blowing black smoke from exhaust while speeding up, it seems to
be firing on only one cylinder as well. While idling and when it
finally gets to full throttle, there is no smoke. When it is running
about 1/4 throttle it blows black smoke as well. Things that could
be causing this?

Define ''Rebuilt carb'', did you swap out the carb for a rebuilt you bought, rebuild it yourself, have a ''pro'' rebuild it?

Anyhow, those 2 bbls. need to be VERY thoroughly cleaned out with drills run through several critical passages.

If that wasn't done, it needs to be.

GOOGLE will find you some videos on cleaning them and the drill needed.

welp for many a rebuild means a can of spray carb cleaner and a needle and seat and gskt's a through cleaning is two cans . To me it is a 24 hour hot tub soak in some really nasty hide removing stuff that the EPA would have nightmares over and ever passage is cleaned with drill bits or tip cleaners and washed outin steming hot da2wn dish soap bath then rinsed and blowen out . BUT hay i have been working on carb's for over 61 years and have carb #5 coming i this week . Them Deere carbs can be a pain . I did a J D A carb for a guy that five others tinkered on over the years and never got it right . That A runs like a swiss watch now .

All of what wore out said and also how did you adjust the carb? There is a specific procedure to follow to get the barrels equalized..

Well all that come here are hand delivered and when done i install and set . Just my way . When i leave both parts know the job is done right and is running the best it can run. Yep i am I H BUT some times i will work on other brands but only under the cover of darkness Don't want it to get out i CAN work on others . But on I h's from the letter series up to the early 86's i have been from the rad cap to the PTo at one time or other . Carb work started for me WAY back with my 56 Ford and two Bird Cage four bbl's and that was a long time ago. I am in N/E Ohio , more then likely not in your back yard .

Black smoke means that it's running rich. Or it could mean that the ignition is struggling. I have fixed my fuel problems a few times by changing the condenser. And that was after fiddling with the carb until I was totally frustrated. Your statement about rebuilding the carb - I could see myself having two problems at this point.
