Cant square dance in a round house.
That is a beautiful vintage barn. Think about laying up a
brick lead and setting a string line.
The crown seems to be an add of a bin roof. I would say
it looks good in this case.

Usually they are around a silo. That top looks like a more simple grain bin ring and roof. Some early silos were galvanized metal, but didnt last long.

Very unusual! When round barns are a bit unusual to start with.

Two doors down from my home farm there was and still is a sizable round barn. Great uncle Tony helped to build it. I have been told back in the day certain guys traveled the area when there was a barn to be built. To tell a family secret my great uncle Tony was Dutch (so was my grandmother) That bit of information lends itself to this topic because the Dutch were prolific builders of the round windmill and that transferred to the round barns here.

How does that actually work as a drive in barn? You back the load of loose hay in but how des the hay carrier track run in a round barn?

I know they made special hay carriers for round Barns, the carrier wheels that ran on the track swivelled. They must have made track that could be bent.

A few years ago we checked out some vintage tractor at an old farm site that had a barn with lean-tos on both sides. Although not a round barn it had a Star manure carrier that tracked to both alleys (the cows faced together with one feed alley) and to both lean-tos. There were radius corners with a gate switch to track the carrier on the desired track and to turn the corners heading out.

A really nice round barn is in Rochester, Indiana. Run by the Fulton County Historical Society.search fultoncountyhistory.org They feature many events every year. A power/tractor show June 9-10. Also many other events but Barn might not be open at many of them. Not only the big round barn but a village with many nice things to see and a large museum with a lot of local displays.

Grin. Yep, that's true that there was always work to be done... I grew up on a farm.

I looked up a round barn floor plan... it it looked to be laid out as I imagined.
