Checking In

All, haven't been on here in about 6 years. Miss it but life has been busy. Got married, have a little girl who love tractor rides with dad when we get back to my parents place where the tractors are. I just wanted to thank anyone and everyone who had helped me when I was younger, dumber, and spent too much time here learning a lot about old tractors and such. Added a picture of my daughter about a year ago riding on my Super M and one on my Farmall H.

NO children on tractors, ever, never, EVER! Look at the past few days about the 6 yeAR OLD THAT FELL out of the cab, got run
under the wheels. TRAGEDIES.

I remember you from those days. Ignore these alarmists about riding on tractors. Serious or not. I rode and drove them way younger than they will tell you I should have. Was moving seed and fertilizer at about 5 and working ground at about 7or8 with an old Massey Harris 44 on a 12 foot disk. Still here though some probably wish I wasn't.

Really???

I say let them ride and drive. Just be smart about it.

I agree! So easy to slip from tractor under the wheels.

Be safe. You decide what that means. 10 days ago there was a 3 year old that fell off a tractor in the neighboring township and was killed.
It can and does happen.

Welcome back, although I can't say I knew you were gone. I posted a few months ago and asked who was still around
but not posting much anymore. There were over 300 replies. A small handful of Rambo types took all the fun out over
the past six years.

I've given kids rides on tractors many times. Perfectly safe, as long as you use your head--tractor idling in low gear, kid on my lap with my arm firmly around them. Let them steer it, and help if necessary. They're having a ball and no one is getting hurt. It's not like you're running a race, or out doing field work. Simple common sense.

As to the other question--I wasn't a whole lot older than 5 or 6 the first time I drove a 8N Ford or John Deere MT. And I'm still here.
