Ford 9N polarity

From what little I know about older Fords (Im NOT a Ford man) some 9N's used a round Cutout Relay while others a Voltage Regulator. Sorry I don't know what you have or even if the 9N used a Class A or a Class B charging system ?? For Class A's, similar to posted below, to polarize I momentarily flash jump BAT to GEN/ARM regardless if it's a Cutout Relay or a VR. Even if such works for polarizing a Class B, on Class B charging systems my preferred method is to momentarily flash jump BAT to the Gennys FLD terminal.

You might want to post this over on the Ford Forum. Heres a thread that may be of interest:

(quoted from post at 13:10:29 04/16/23) I have a cut out relay system so il try that

Yes, for sure if charging system has not been modified from as it left the factory it is an ''A'' system and momentarily jumpering across the cutout WILL polarize it ASSUMING the generator is in working order.
