Farmall tractor motor

Help if you can. I have a farmall with out a serial # . I need to repair the engine but dont know what engine it has. The number on the pad is FCM.and the # is 176327. Any help would be greatly appreciated. There is a # 2-27-Y and block #354898-R2.

Identify the tractor first. Sounds like you don't even know that.

You identify the tractor, and you'll likely know what engine it has in it. Back in the day, they only had one engine option for gas and one for diesel per tractor size. If small enough or old enough, there wasn't even a diesel option.

What AM Farmer said, 2-27-Y means cast in February of 1953.
In link is the Farmall page on Tractordata.com. You can look there to compare your tractor to what they show for different models, The Letter models are at the bottom of the list. The Farmalls are the row crop models.

Is the serial number on the side of the toolbox under the seat?

The engine is a late Farmall C engine.

Ah, crap! My eyes are getting worse! Its a Super C engine.
