Ford 8n or MF 65

I have found 2 old tractors to buy but can't decide which is the best one to choose. 1 tractor is a 8n Ford and the other is a Massey Ferguson 65 gas. Which one would make me the best tractor?

If you are going to use it the 65 is the winner because of live p.t.o.

Mf 65 Hands down, like other posted stated live pto, better seat, power steering. Its were I put my money.

The MF 65 is far more capable than an 8N.

MF 65 is more comparable to the Ford 861. The 8n won't compare well to either of those tractors for doing most jobs on a farm or acreage.

I grew up on both of those tractors. The 65 is the winner hands down because it has live PTO and live hydraulics and is double the horsepower of the 8N. Neither of these features are live on the 8N. Not all 65s have power steering.

An 8N is like a donkey. The MF is like a usable tractor. You can ride the donkey if you are small, and pull a small kart. The MF will do real work nicely. Jim

I like those little 8N's, but I would take MF 65 over the 8N anytime. Just much more tractor with MF 65.

I was just out cleaning the plugs and starting up my '58 MF 65 totally original (was my son's). It is going to a pull Saturday but it's really strength is pulling a plow. Strong tractor, parts available, easy to work on. There is no comparison with an 8N.

The 8N is a 27 HP two plow tractor with a basic three point hitch. The MF65 is a ten year newer 46 HP three plow tractor with many more modern features. Expect to pay more for the 65, $3,000 vrs $1,500.

MF 65 would be my pick over the 8N. Not even comparable tractors.

A question everyone can agree on the correct answer! I agree the Massey is the better choice. I used to do a lot of work with my uncles MF 135 and would like to pick one up some day.

The mf65 is light years ahead of the 8n in every way.

I'm not a fan of either of them and would pick the Massey. The 8N is just a dog waiting to be kicked.

FYI. Last few N fords I've seen sell at auctions struggled to bring $500.00 and they were running. Buy the MF no matter how much higher priced it is.
