In 12 years I'd only found 1 worm on my place so I started 2 worm bins and release a batch every 2 weeks. Add them to small compost pole. Too soon to know if its working but the castings are great soil.

On our place, if I want to see worms, all I have to do is move something or take a shovel and turn one scoop of soil over.
Robins are trying their best to get them all, but that would be impossible.

And that white snow covers much of the east half of SD. Let's hope it doesn't melt too fast.

Take a look at one of the piles of snow removed from Mitchell's streets. It'll probably be still around at rodeo time in mid July. It was packed with a D-6 Cat. It's about 300 feet at the base and 900 feet long. Mitchell,SD has about 140 miles of city streets. Most had so much snow pushed against the curb by mid January they were limited to one way traffic.

Mind me asking how you started it? Would love to start a compost pile to add to my garden from time to time here in south Louisiana.

I have black clay alkaline soil and the large white worms are everywhere. Some of you folks have Gopher problems. I have Armadillo problems digging up my yard and retreating under my house at night. They seem to have to dig a new hole every time they want to sleep and usually its under one of my footings. Have a real problem keeping my house level.

A couple of weeks ago Robins came through, don't know their direction but they stayed the 2 weeks and one or two still linger. They had a field day and were a lot of fun to watch.

I saw this article and thought of you.

'Peecycling' is the latest sustainable gardening trend but should you be peeing on your compost to improve it?

Do you have Walter trained to pee on your compost pile?
