Exhaust port pit fixes on heads

If you have a tractor that has some pits in the head at the exhaust ports and are wondering about getting it to seal up again during gasket replacement without disassembling the engine you can use a product called Quick Steel or JB-Weld Extreme Heat. I have done this on 2 other tractors and it has worked well. After wire brushing the surface good and application of the product has dried well, use a small file and hold flush against the port and file it down, moving the file in different angles but not moving it more than an inch or two as to keep it flush against the head. It is a lengthy process but it can be done and does work.

I use Acoustic Seal, comes in a white/light blue tube like toothpaste. A heavy black goo, that you apply, start engine to get manifold warm. Then shutoff the engine and let cool, do it again the next day, then should be ready to go. Got mine at napa.

ive used furnace silicone sealer. remove rust apply ,let engine warm up no muffler let it idle. next day run it lot longer maybe half hour . after that good to go. the elbow on my 411 b was ate out .new gasket n applied that silicone on both sides of gasaket let set up n hasnt leaked in 3 years.
friend uses it on bad clamps on big trucks lite bead around both above n below the slpice tighten n remove any that squeezes out. helps keep dot happy so they can look for other things

Where you are at, apply your goop of your like'N lay a sheet of wax paper on it and install the manifold. Let it set up and remove the wax paper. the goop will not stick to the wax paper.
