Is the PTO shaft on a Ford 651 1" 1/8 or 1" 3/8? (Tractor is a looong way away.)
Some 651s had power steering. This one doesn't. What would be involved in adding power steering?

You need:

Power steering pump and lines

Power steering steering column

Hydraulic lines from column to the---

Hydraulic rams that attach to---

Steering rods with P.S. attachment points (holes)

2 belt groove Crankshaft pulley

Belt to go from pulley to pump

Water outlet with mounting hole for adjustable belt tensioning arm (most engines have this already)

Belt tensioning arm assembly (you can use a turnbuckle...)

Fancy little plate that goes under steering wheel nut that says ''Power Steering'' (optional)

P.T.O. is S.A.E. 1-3/8''

The most common method of adding PS to such tractors is to buy a PS package from a salvage tractor.

Be advised that most such systems have badly worn pumps, slave cylinders and control valves. Accordingly, you could spend $1,000 - $1,200 for a change over package only to find that it needs $750 + in
parts to make it function properly.

A 651 should have a 1 3/8 pto shaft but there is no 100% guarantee.

Sometimes the best way to handle a project is to skip it and go another route! With these helpful replies and my limited time, that seems best
