Got the old John Deere engine installed

Took the engine up in the mountains and 80 year old friend and I put it on his 1938 John Deere L.
Gonna go back soon and help him get the driveshaft in and pull it around to loosen it up.
This was his Dad's tractor and was used to farm a good number of acres.

I got on the JD LA and drove it a little today.
I would have to build a step for me to get on and off.

Nice job, ive never heard of pulling them around to loosen them up method. Why just not start it up and let it break in with good lubrication and a heat cycle.

Looks like it still has the orignal Firestone tires on the back. That would make them 85 years old. If not orignals then they would still have to be close to 70 years old for that style tread.
